High School Building
The High School Building (HSB) is where it's all at! The majority of classes are held here, as well as guided study and assemblies. Built in 1983, students and faculty alike enjoy the high ceilings and quiet atmosphere. First Floor
The first floor is home to our administrative offices, the auditorium, and some of our faculty offices. Many of our numerous trophies are displayed right outside of the Treen Auditorium
Faculty Offices All of our teachers have posted office hours, and can also be reached by making an appointment. Students struggling in classes often find the one-on-one assistence found at office hours very helpful. Administrative Offices
Treen Auditorium The David Conner Treen Auditorium is newly renovated. Student assemblies, recitals, plays, and other events take place here.
Second Floor The second floor hosts the majority of our classrooms, the media center, the math lab, our computer labs, and some teacher offices. Students often sit on the floor between classes to do a little quiet studying. Classrooms
Our classrooms are clean and bright. Most classes have fewer than 20 students, and class time is spent on more important things than busy work. Sometimes, when the weather is nice, class is even held outside! Computer Labs
Three computer labs are located in the HSB, and computer stations are also located in both Prudhomme and Caddo, the 2 Residence Halls. Media Center The Media Center is where much of our high-tech equipment is located and available for check-out to teachers and sometimes students. In addition, the Media Center houses a small black and white photography lab.
Math Lab The Math Lab is located on the second floor of the HSB. A few students very good in math are assigned each year to help in the Math Lab as their work service. Students are encouraged to come to the Math Lab for help with homework or fresh explanations of hard-to-grasp concepts. Third Floor The third floor houses all of our labs, as well as a few classrooms and faculty offices. Several of the ten labs are recently renovated with more on schedule for renovations and upgrading in the next few years.
Science Laboratories LSMSA offers conceptual physics, astronomy, advanced astronomy, general physics, AP physics, electronics, physics with calculus, mathematical methods in physics, modern physics, and independent physics research opportunities. There is no exhausting our great physics faculty!
Dance Studio
Cafeteria
Although nothing can compare to real home cooking, the school's food service does a great job, always providing variety, quality, and friendly service.
Annex The Annex is adjacent to the HSB, and houses our music department, visual arts department, and drama department. It was also built in 1938, and is scheduled for major renovation and construction during the next 4 years. Black Box The "Black Box" is home to our theatre department, which includes Acting I, Acting II, and Repertory Theatre.
Visual Art Studio Our visual art classes include design, drawing, drawing II, painting, painting II, painting III, black and white photography, watercolor, printmaking, stagecraft, ceramics, sculpture, and independent study in visual art. SAC The SAC (Student Activities Center) is home to Nurse Mary's office, the Student Affairs Office, the GYM, a TV room, a reading room, pool tables, a Ping-Pong table, and a fooseball table. Students frequent the SAC in between and after classes to meet with friends, finish homework, and let off stress.
Nurse's Office
Mrs. Baker works with Nurse Mary to keep us healty. Gym The LSMSA gym contains our physical education department, which offers health and wellness, nutrition, standard first aid and CPR, badminton, beginning fencing, intermediate fencing, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softbal, beginning tennis, intermediate tennis, karate, beginning swimming, international dance, weight training, aerobic dance, fitness swimming, lifeguard training, and water saftey instruction.
Student Affairs Office
Wondering how you'll receive a huge care package from home? Well, if your parents are nice enough to send one, you can simply pick it up in the student affairs office, conveniently located in the SAC. Each student is assigned a mail cubby hole, and if you are sent something too large, a slip will alert you to pick it up in the student affairs office.
Caddo Hall
Caddo Hall is made up of suites, where three rooms share one bathroom.
(Useless fact: Some bathrooms have pink tile; others have yellow)
The first floor has a small kitchen with a stove, oven, and microwave. Each room comes with two beds (which can be bunked), two desks, two chairs, and two closets.
Prudhomme Prudhomme is about a 7 minute walk from the HSB, and about a 5 minute walk from Caddo. Watson Library We share NSU's library, Watson. LSMSA probably has the best high school library in the state! Group study areas as well as many individual study stations ensure that any student wanting to get away from hectic dorm life to study will have a great place to go.
Campus Security
Because LSMSA is located on NSU's campus, we enjoy the benefits of their full-time campus police. Police cars patrol the area during the day as well as at night to keep all students as safe as possible. Intramurals Building (IM) LSMSA students can visit the NSU IM (located next to Prudhomme) to work-out with aerobic equipment, weights, and an indoor basketball court. Tennis Courts
Natatorium
Registrar The Registrar's office is responsible for keeping the records of enrollment and academic standing at LSMSA. Admissions The Admissions office is where (you guessed it!) the admissions officers are located. Our admissions process has six steps: application, testing, screening, selection of semifinalists, interviews/auditions, and selection of finalists. All application materials are sent to the Admissions office.
Counselor Offices LSMSA employs three full-time college counselors to aid students in their decisions for high school, college, and life beyond the classroom. Courtyard
The courtyard is located between the HSB and the SAC. On nice days, many LSMSA faculty will take their classes outside for the fresh air and great atmosphere.
